Shi-Joon Yoo received most of his education and training in Korea and majored paediatric and fetal cardiac imaging as a radiologist. He started his specialist career at the Sejong Heart Institute in Bucheon in 1985. While he worked for three hospitals in Korea as a free-lancing specialist for pediatric cardiac and fetal imaging, he was recruited to the University of Toronto and the Hospital for Sick Children as the Professor of Diagnostic Imaging and Paediatrics in 1999. He has been the Section Head of Cardiac Imaging since then. He has recently been appointed as the Clinical Director of 3D Printing Program of the Hospital for Sick Children. In his career, he devoted himself to applications of the newly developing technologies and concepts in clinical paediatric cardiology field. They included MRI, fetal ultrasound and 3D printing. He has published over 260 scientific papers, and authored or coauthored 5 books and 22 chapters. He has given over 570 lectures as a visiting professor or an invited speaker at various hospitals, universities, scientific meetings and courses. He founded paediatric cardiac imaging fellowship program at the Hospital for Sick Children where radiologists and cardiologists make harmonious collaboration for a common goal, sound patient care and research.
